This is intended as something of a glorified box cutter. Since this was my first attempt at knife making, I tried to design a simple knife that would be easy to produce. Regarding that goal, I went a little wrong by choosing a Scandinavian grind: putting the initial edge on the blade after heat treating was a real chore without power tools.
This knife is designed to be something I can carry with me. While I have quite a bit of legal leeway in my neck of the woods, folding knives are both more common and more practical than fixed blades for every day carry. Compared to other folding knives, friction folders have the advantage of being relatively simple in design and construction — an important consideration for someone with my limited skills and tools.
